LAGERBOX has purchased a property in Essen
We went public with our expansion in Remscheid only last week and can already report that we have now accomplished our mission in Essen, too. In addition to our existing location on Hachestrasse, which is close to the central station, we will build our second storage facility in the city’s seventh district, Ruhrau.

Construction is expected to begin late next year. The current plans provide for a gross floor area between 7,500 and 8,000 m², spread across two stories. In addition to the customary storage units, they also feature extra large commercial storage spaces with up to 40 m².
Additionally, the plans provide outdoor storage space in the form of garages that will enable 24-hour access. The facility is located directly on the Ruhr River amidst a business park that is surrounded by numerous residential estates.
It has excellent motorway connections to the A40 and the A52. Located in the Eastern part of Essen, the property is only a short drive from Wattenscheid and also Bochum.

Essen has around 590,000 inhabitants, making it one of Germany’s ten largest cities, and is the geographical centre of the Ruhr Area in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. Essen is a significant industry and business location and famous for the Zollverein Coal Mine Industrial Complex. The Botanical Garden and Ruhr Museum are also well worth a visit.
The city is concentric and covers an area of about 210 km². Originally named “Altessen”, Essen City took over its name from Essen County in the 19th century. The city is made up of 50 neighbourhoods distributed across nine city districts. The ninth district is the largest in terms of area.

In addition to the third Cologne-based facility, Mülheim, which is currently under construction and is scheduled for opening late in the first quarter of next year, additional locations are being built in Wuppertal, Gelsenkirchen, Remscheid, and now Essen.
